What this site is

Pitch Primer is an educational guide to European football written for people in the United States who are new to the sport. It explains how clubs, leagues and competitions work, and helps you find a club to follow.

It is not a betting service, a live-score service, a fantasy platform, or a source of record for results and statistics. Where you need an authoritative answer, go to the club, the league, or the competition organiser.

Club crests, player images and club names

Club crests, badges, club names and player photographs shown on this site are the property of their respective clubs, players and rights holders. They appear here for identification, information and education only.

We use them to help a reader recognise a club or a player they have already seen, which is the entire purpose of this site. We do not claim ownership of them, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to imply that any club, competition or player endorses or is associated with Pitch Primer.

If you hold rights in something shown here and want it removed or attributed differently, please get in touch and we will act on it.

Accuracy

Squad lists, league tables and club details come from third-party data providers and can be out of date, particularly after a transfer window. Club descriptions, attribute ratings and culture notes are our own editorial judgement rather than fact, and are marked as such.

Club recommendations are a conversation starter, not a verdict. There is no evidence that a questionnaire can determine which club someone will love, and we explain exactly how the matching works so you can disagree with it.

You are welcome to read, link to and share anything here. Please do not scrape the site at volume, attempt to disrupt it, or present its content as your own or as an official source.
